Philippines

Never had I thought I would be going to the Philippines. It wasn’t in my list of places to visit. I didn’t know much about it, only that every single person I met from there was way too nice. And then there was a wedding I couldn’t miss.

Yes, the reason for the trip was to witness two good friends tie the knot, but then something amazing happened: both my husband and I fell in love with the country. We were not expecting it and then the smiles just won us over. The food just won us over. The people just won us over. And then this, just won us over:

We experienced Manila’s crazy traffic, saw many, many Jeepneys…

My friend recommended and booked for us an Intramuros tour with Carlos Celdran, the best guide in the world in my opinion, where we learned a lot about Manila’s history and importance. We also learned about the yumminess of Choc Nut!

And along the way we met fantastic, amazing people! Not just the people getting married and their guests (all simply amazing!), but every one we met along the way. I must say this trip was not about the journey or the destination, it was about the experiences: we went to a wedding (the most beautiful I’ve ever been to), I went to a beauty salon, did stand up paddle, ate amazing food, experienced breathtaking sunsets… and the list goes on.

The natural beauty was stunning, but the people, the people made the trip worth it! The experiences made the trip worth it! And I really don’t understand how the Philippines can be such an underrated destination.

After the wonderful experiences we had (and that I will write more about), I am confident that indeed, It is more fun in the Philippines!
