Hong Kong, Macau and Philippines: a travel of firsts

In about a month from now, we will be on our way to the Philippines, Hong Kong and Macau! This travel marks a lot of firsts for us, so here we go:

It will be the first time both my husband and I will travel without our daughter since she was born. Before she was born we traveled a lot and after she was born as well, but always with her; of course we had business trips, but either me or my husband were at home with her when the other was traveling for work.

Now, because our trip will be during the week of her final exams we decided it wouldn’t make sense to get her to rush to do the exams before or after the trip and rushing through the process. My mother-in-law is coming to stay with her, so it will be interesting to see how we will handle this. I know I’m already crying about the fact that my baby will be so far away – thankfully, there’s FaceTime! 🙂

It will be our first time in Asia: I know I am fascinated with Europe, but Asia is also a continent we always wanted to visit. We will go to Manila and Boracay in the Philippines and Hong Kong and Macau and our list of things to do, see and eat is huge! So huge in fact that we are already talking about our next visit (with our daughter!).

It will be our first time flying Cathay Pacific: for many years I’ve wanted to fly Cathay Pacific. I always heard many good things about the overall flight experience, so I am looking forward to it – particularly the noodles! – and what the experience of flying economy for almost 16 hours will look like.

It will be our first time going to an overseas wedding: the reason why we are going on this trip is a wedding in the Philippines! I basically “made the match” between the bride and groom, two dear friends of mine, while in Canada and I couldn’t not miss this amazing moment in their lives. I am really looking forward to the authentic experience this occasion will provide: tradition, culture, food, love!

I will be talking a bit more about our plans in each place in the coming weeks and would love if you could check back and tell us what you think!

Do you have a travel of firsts coming up? Where to? Let us know in the comments!
